Road Safety Exhibition "Safely moving with my family", Mediterranean Cosmos, 6-25 October 2017

The road safety exhibition "Safely moving with my family!" was held in the "Mediterranean Cosmos" shopping center of Thessaloniki, between 6th to 25th of October 2017. The exhibition was organized by the Hellenic Police, in collaboration with the non profit organisation "Alliance for Greece", under the frame of the project "Road safety through eyes children", aiming to inform people of all ages towards road safety issues.

The exhibition was attended by 20,000 people, mainly children, parents, teachers, school traffic policeman, while on the last days special events were devoted to the information of professional drivers using a truck / bus simulator and heavy machinery simulators by Traffic Police Officers. 

Small visitors were briefed and trained by Traffic Police officers also, in a special traffic park and drew their own road safety paintings. At the same time, adult visitors had the opportunity to get trained in accident prevention in transportation, via the use of high tech equipment, such as driving simulators, several simulation goggles, and a reaction testing device.

Smart Drive Ltd provided a passenger car simulator, adapted with a 5 heavy machinery simulator, a truck / bus simulator, 3 alcohol/fatigue/drug simulation goggles and a reaction testing device which correlates the driver's reaction time with the car speed and the road surface conditions and provides the total stopping distance during an emergency braking. Also a video developed with its own roll over car simulator, presenting the deadly consequences of a roll car accident for driver and passenger who are not wearing their seat belts.

82nd Thessaloniki International Fair, Hellenic Police Pavillion, 9-17 September 2017

Transportation Engineers, technicians and executives of Smart Drive Ltd, in cooperation with the Hellenic Police (Traffic Police Department) using a roll over car simulator, informed at least 70,000 children and adult visitors of the 82nd International Trade Fair of Thessaloniki, raising their awareness, via the presentation of the deadly consequences of a roll over car accident at 50 kms/hour, if the driver and passengers are not wearing their seat belts.

Apart the roll over car simulator, for the 82nd International Trade Fair of Thessaloniki needs, Smart Drive Ltd provided to the Hellenic Police a double seat belt convincer, six alcohol/fatigue/drugs simulation goggles and a reaction testing device.

Over 250,000 visitors were present during the 82nd International Trade Fair of Thessaloniki, which was open between 9th and 17th of September 2017.

8th International Conference on Transport Research in Greece, 27-29 September 2017

Smart Drive Ltd participated with a scientific publication and at the same time with the first presentation of its equipment at the "8th International Conference on Transport Research in Greece" with the title: "The Future of Transportation: A Vision for 2030" organized by the Hellenic Institute of Transportation Engineers (HITE) and the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT) of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH). The congress was at CERTH in Thermi, Thessaloniki, on September 27-29, 2017.

Smart Drive Ltd's scientific presentation focused on the development of clusters of various types of simulators, aiming at an innovative and integrated approach to the accident prevention on transportation, construction and mining.

The ICTR has been a major event in the field of transportation research for the past 15 years. Potential ICTR participants include the research and academic community, as well as the public and private sector involved in the development and implementation of innovative projects in the field of transport.

ICTR 2017 hosted innovative research and development work in the field of transportation systems, operations and infrastructures, in Greece and abroad. The Congress objective was to showcase recent top-notch research activities in transportation, merge research findings and policy making tasks, facilitate the exchange of knowledge in the local and international level and draw conclusions and shape recommendations on the future of transportation.

3rd Business Exhibition of Serres, Police Department of Serres Pavillion, 29/9/2017 - 1/10/2017

Thousands of visitors had the opportunity to be informed extensively on road safety issues during the 3rd Business Exhibition of Serres (Serexpo 2017) by police officersr of the Police Department of Serres.

Smart Drive Ltd, within the framework of Corporate Social Responsibility, sponsored the Serres Police Directorate, providing a truck / bus simulator, a passenger car simulator/5 heavy machinery, 3 alcohol/fatigue/drugs simulation goggles, a reaction testing device which correlates the driver's reaction time with the car speed and the road surface conditions and provides the total stopping distance during an emergency braking.

Smart Drive Ltd also provided audiovisual equipment for the needs of public presentation of its video from Smart Drive's roll over car simulation with 50 kms per hour.

PanHellenic Driving Instructors Conference on Road Safety - 23rd April 2016

The Pan-Hellenic Association of Driving Instructors (POEO) organized a workshop entitled "Driving instructors and road safety: The primary sector in road safety production". The event took place on Saturday, April 23, 2016, under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks. It was held under the frame of Athens Money Show 2016, at the Astir Palace Hotel.

During the conference, several discussions occurred between driving instructors and organisations/institutions towards the  "production" of better drivers with knowledge on road safety and awareness issues, through the improvement of the unique formal education and examination process related to road safety in Greece.

In the same time, driving instructors provided safe and eco-driving mini seminars to the visitors of Athens Money Show 2016, using Smart Drive's passenger car and motorcycle driving simulators.  Moreover, information material was distributed due to the Easter mass exodus. Road safety experts from univerisities, research, traffic police, scientific institutions, driving instructors, road infrastructure and education/awareness technologies companies were invited.

Sponsors of the conference were the Athens Chamber of Tradesman and Smart Drive.

Road Safety 2015 in Bulgaria and Greece

In 2015, SmartDrive was active in various road safety public awareness events, under the framework of its commitment into European Road Safety Charter (ERSC).

SmartDrive participated at the international conference on "Educational Technologies - 2015" organized by the Technical University of Sofia and four other Bulgarian scientific national organisations. It participated in the roundtable, entitled "Road safety - Training and Qualification of candidate drivers of motor vehicles." The conference was held in Kavarna, Bulgaria, between 6 and 8 of September, 2015.

 

 

International Conference on ITS, eCall and Road Safety

The eCall, an automatic pilot system sendingmessage to the emergency services in case of a traffic accident, was presented during the International Conference held on 25 April 2014, at the Main Auditorium of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks.

eCall is being developed under the frame of the European Pilot Project HeERO-112 within the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) guidelines.

Smart Drive installed the second 3D simulator technology in Bulgaria!

The second 3D simulator has been installed in Bulgaria. The first one is being used for educational and public awareness purposes, while the second simulator will be used for research and training purposes.

Menus, vocals, commands and text messaging are all in Bulgarian language. The road environment has been adapted to reflect to Bulgarian road conditions. The new software F12-5.8 is equipped with more scenarios on driver training issues and Road Safety.

Using three-dimensional imaging technology in two ways (from the program itself or artificial), improved graphics and motion system, the simulator gives the reality feeling close to a real car.

Serres Racing Circuit into Foerst Simulator

A new software for Serres Racing Circuit has been recently developed into Foerst Driving Simulator, under the frame of the cross border Interreg Project between Greece - Bulgaria which was called Promo Safe Driving.

EU proposals on Road Safety issues

One of the measures proposed by the EU for the reduction of traffic accidents concerning the decade 2011-2020, is the upgrade of driver training. Among other EU proposals, is the suggestion to use driving simulators.
